The Beevers

The Beevers - Trixie & Beever

Though they are distinct individuals, Beever & Trixie Easybake do so much together, it’s simpler to combine their bios. And besides, they look so good in this photo by Katrocket, it would be a shame to separate them.

Trixie started performing with the Scandelles in 2002, and Beever joined the onstage fun in 2003. Prior to that, the pair performed together at Vazaleen, Strange Sisters and other events, as well as hosting monthly Trailer Trash Bingo nights at the Bovine Sex Club for 4 years. They have a great day job designing and making the products of their company Barbie’s Basement Jewellery, and sometimes create special collections to accompany Scandelles shows and parties. For June 2005’s production Les Demimondes, Beever & Trixie were commissioned by Buddies to create a special installation “Tricks n’ Beavers Lounge” which included original furniture, etched mirrors and glitter portraits of Hollywood movie whores. Spreading the glitter a bit further, these two have also contributed visual art pieces and installations at Toronto’s Zsa Zsa, S.P.I.N., Edward Day and Paul Petro galleries, and recently had their first solo show Souvenir at Paul Petro Multiples & Small Works.

Both contribute heavily to the visual elements of Scandelles shows: Beever uses expertise learned in her previous career as a display artist to create props, and Trixie applies her self-taught graphic design skills to promotional flyers and ads for the troupe.

Beever is full of ideas (including the genesis of the Partiste movement and its motto “if you’re not part of the party, you’re part of the problem”) and Trixie knows how to massage them into fruition. They are (somewhat nauseatingly) happily married, but the Scandelles tolerate this aberration quite well.
