Hunter Valentine

Kiyomi McCloskey, Laura Petracca, Adrienne Lloyd

"They play heartbreaker music, a kind of driving, relentlessly hooky pop that's shot through with drum breaks you tap out on the back of your school notebooks, bass lines you hum at the end of a bittersweet drunken night and melodies that stick in your brain and become soundtracks to those days when you feel your life is like a movie."
- Sarah Liss, NOW Magazine

Officially forming in the summer of 2004, Hunter Valentine is a three-piece rock outfit from Toronto and together their influences cover a wide array of musical terrain; lead singer and guitarist Kiyomi McCloskey was brought up with the sounds of Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, Robert Johnson and Lucinda Williams; bassist Adrienne Lloyd began her musical career at a young age with piano lessons, and later studied classical performance on the upright bass; drummer Laura Petracca was inspired by the sounds of classic rock and dominated local drum competitions. Together they create a brand of rock that is for both the heartbreaker and the heartbroken. Collaborating with lauded Canadian producer and musician Ian Blurton, Hunter Valentine recently recorded an independent EP at Chemical Sound Recording Studio in Toronto. From boat cruises to burlesque shows, Hunter Valentine has shared the stage with Dragonette, Michael Johnson and The New Kings, Kelly and the Kelly Girls, Dance Yourself to Death, Kill the Lights, The Scandelles, and more.
