AKA The Moderns

Project Sugar was created for the premier of Under the Mink in 2004, with the intent of melding the essence of contemporary dance* with the theatrics and socio-political content of The Scandelles burlesque style. Contemporary (or modern) dance and burlesque have more in common than one may have expected and so Project Sugar continues on their mission to spread sweetness throughout the world.

*the essence of contemporary dance - Dance is movement. Movement is a bare and natural form of communication, in movement we share collective experience, inexpressible in words. Sometimes your body just feels, movement is the language of those basic human feelings. Contemporary dance is the development of skills and tools used to enhance the innate capability that movement has to convey emotions with incredible intensity and truth.
